Is Nutriva free?
Yes. Manual meal logging is free forever, and barcode scanning, goals, progress and backup are free too. The free plan shows light, non-personalized ads, never while you log. AI features are optional and have usage limits. On Android, the optional Nutriva Pro subscription removes ads and raises AI limits.
Does it work offline?
Yes, day to day: logging, searching the app's food table, and viewing your history and progress all work offline, and your diary stays on your device. AI features, online search and barcodes you haven't saved yet, backup and the My account website need an internet connection.
What about my data privacy?
Everything is stored on your device first. We don't sell your data, and free-plan ads are non-personalized, use no advertising ID and never receive your foods or health data. Your diary only goes to the cloud if you turn on backup. If you turn on AI features, each time you use one the request carries what that feature needs, such as the text, the photo or diary summaries, and goes through Nutriva's server to OpenAI in the United States. Nutriva doesn't keep what you send or the answers.
Do I need an account?
No. An account is optional: you can log everything without creating one. If you want, sign in with Google or Apple to back up to the cloud and restore your data on another device.
Can I see my data on a computer?
Yes, if you turned on backup in the app (in Settings, by signing in with Google or Apple). Sign in at account.nutrivaapp.com with the same account: in My account, you can see your diary, weight and goals, adjust your profile, goals and units, export your data or delete your account. Diary entries are still added in the app; on the website, the diary is view-only.
Is there an iPhone version?
Yes. Nutriva is on the App Store for iPhone (iOS 16 or later) and on Google Play for Android, free on both. New features usually reach Android first.
Which languages and units are supported?
Portuguese, English and French: the app follows your device language, and you can change it in Settings. Weight can be in kg or lb, and height in cm or feet and inches.
How do the AI features work?
They're optional and stay off until you turn them on. With them, you can log meals by text, voice or photo, fix a meal in one sentence, get a read on your day and week, ask about your diary, and build meal plans and recipes from your own foods. They need an internet connection, are for adults 18+ only, and nothing goes into your diary until you review it. Answers are estimates and can be wrong: they aren't medical or dietitian advice.
How do I download Nutriva?
Free on Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iPhone). Tap your store's badge on this page or search for Nutriva.
Where does the food data come from?
In the Portuguese app, from Brazil's TACO table (NEPA/Unicamp); in English and French, from USDA FoodData Central, with English names. For packaged foods with a barcode, the app looks them up on Open Food Facts, and you can also add your own foods with the numbers from the label.
How does Nutriva calculate my goal?
You start with a provisional goal and, whenever you want, calculate yours in under a minute: the app estimates your daily energy expenditure with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, from your sex, age, height, weight, activity level and goal, and never suggests less than 1,200 kcal a day. It's an estimate, not medical advice.
Can I use Nutriva in Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes. With a Nutriva account and backup on, you connect Claude or ChatGPT to your account and choose read-only or read and write. Then just ask in the chat, for example: “how much protein do I have left today?”. The integration is free, you can disconnect anytime, and the app keeps working offline.
